“Compassion is an unstable emotion. It needs to be translated into action, or it withers.”

In difficult times, artists are often considered responsible for beauty and providing an escape from reality. But unfortunately reality is just as harsh for them too.

The Female Gaze is a photographic print sale by 108 female* Belgian or Belgium based photographers in aid of the urgent humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
(Dec 20 - Jan 10)
The current situation in the Gaza Strip is dire. An unprecedented escalation of violence is taking a devastating toll on all civilians in the region.
As photographers, but above all people - often mothers - with a great commitment, it is impossible to look away. It is time for action.
For this edition however, we believe that the scale of the disaster transcends gender. In a war that affects everyone, it feels morally incorrect to provide aid selectively for women only.
All proceeds will be donated to Shabab Gaza (Youth Without Borders Gaza).
This small and local organization, founded by Mohammed Arborjela and based in Khan Younis, provides basic needs to victims of violence.
Founded by Ans Brys.
With the great support of Siska Vandecasteele.
*We believe that gender is a spectrum. The Female Gaze is inclusive of anyone who identifies as FLINTA (Female, Lesbian, Intersex, Non-binary, Trans or Agender).
