Arian Christiaens is an artist and photographer based in Ghent, Belgium.

She has been working with photography since graduating at KASK in 2004. Last year, she published the book ‘Xenia’, with portraits of her transgender sister.

Personal identity, family relationships and the boundaries between photographic documentation and staging are the key themes in Arian Christiaens work.

For her most recent work she combines self-portraits with pictures from the archive of her parents, both amateur photographers and former lovers. By working with this material she questions her own identity as a lover, artist, daughter and mother.
