Ann-Sophie Deproost
Through a slow process in which coincidence gradually accumulates, the work starts to distance itself from its origin in reality and changes into a mental image. A landscape serves as a starting point for broaching themes such as time, stratification, process and memory. It’s a search for the boundaries between photography and drawing and results in an ever-renewed experiment with chemical, mechanical, digital and manual processing.
Ann-Sophie Deproost is a visual artist based in Ghent, Belgium.
The drawing of Ann-Sophie Deproost starts where her photography ends. Her work doesn’t represent a tangible reality but reveals a more imaginary and poetic interpretation of this reality in which everyday life is confronted with fragments of thoughts.
