Barbara Debeuckelaere
This garden image (OMM) was recently taken by Nidaa (20y) in Tel Rumeida in Hebron in the Westbank. Nidaa is one of the 50+ women of 8 families in Tel Rumeida who photographed her house and surroundings with an analogue camera in September this year. The result is a series of often blurry ambiguous images that show life and love in a violent place, as the women’s ultimate act of resistance.
Barbara Debeuckelaere is a photographer and visual artist based in Ghent, Belgium.
She obsesses over systemic thinking, capitalism and Palestine. Her work is caught somewhere between documentary and conceptual as she formally visualises ideas or events.
