In Flotsam the photographer takes on the role of speleologist and archeologist, and investigates the artificial cave in Antwerp. In this darkness Huysmans plays, through rays of light, with the characteristics of this place. Flotsam stands for a collection of remains, the remaining pieces of a story. The artist refers to various fragments, objects and stories she brings together through her images and transforms into a new story.

Debby Huysmans is a photographer based in Antwerp, Belgium.

She studied at KASK, Ghent. Her photographic projects are long-term projects, an ongoing practice, exploring documentary photography, often resulting in books.
