Heleen Peeters
This is a picture from my series ‘Horse’.
It shows a draft horse in Poland. Draught horses are not especially fast, but they are exceptionally strong. Until the 1970s, draught horses, popularly referred to as ‘farm horses’, played an important role in agriculture. While most draught horses have lost their function, they remain part of our collective memory. Small hobby breeders, passionate about preserving the horse’s cultural and genetic heritage, keep the breed alive.
