In her debut book Mère, we see the artist Julie Scheurweghs in different stages of labor. The skin-close, uncensored and heartfelt photographs of heavy contractions alternated with calm moments in between show us not only a baby being born, but the birth of a mother as well. In this particularly strong image she is in transition, high on natural endorphins and in between worlds. Showing you the fragility and power of a woman in this transformational moment.  

Julie Scheurweghs is a photographer based in Brussels, Belgium.
