Julie van der Vaart
Julie van der Vaart is a fine art photographer, based in Lanaken, Belgium
Her work mainly focusses on the translation of different concepts of space and time into photographic images.
“Scientific philosopher Gustav Bachelard once wrote:“In contrast to a dream a reverie cannot be recounted. To be communicated, it must be written with emotion and taste, being relived all the more strongly because it is being written”. Van der Vaart tries to do just this, to capture or suspend this sense of indulgent reverie through the act of making. Unable to articulate this sensation with verbal language, she creates it through visual means, allowing us into a portal to another place, where the boundaries of time are blurred and we just experience the feeling of being. - Eleanor Duffin”
